Thanks for joining me!
Over the past 2 years I have been sharing my personal journey as a working mom of 2 young girls.
It all began when I realized that life was quickly passing me by with little documentation or recollection of what I had experienced. I am not always the best at taking pictures during events or those “moments” one wishes to remember. Prior to kids I would journal when I was going through something challenging, had a lot on my mind, or had an exciting moment I wanted to remember. I quickly realized in my parenting journey that I was having a hard enough time jotting down milestones in baby books let alone keeping an actual journal!
So I came up with the idea for 365 days I would take a picture as a “snapshot” from my day. The idea was to not only remember the small moments, but to be able to share with others the joys and challenges of being a working mom. When I reached the 365 days I felt sad that such a great way to document my life was coming to an end. I was honored to hear from several people that they had been inspired, touched, or just enjoyed being a part of my daily posts. They asked me to consider continuing my posts.
So I did.
However, I have noticed over the past 2 years of posting my pictures, my captions have turned into paragraphs and I am finding more words I want to share. I have had several people tell me personally how my honest snapshots of life have inspired them or supported them along their journey.
This might be a result of my kids coming to a new stage where I am finding a bit more personal time and space, or it might just me that this nagging need to blog has always been there and I am finally giving in and giving it a go!
My hope for my blog is to continue along the same vein as my 365daysofaworkingmom posts. Posts of gratitude, sharing challenges, giving encouragement, copious amounts of pictures of my cute kids, and a bit of my learning to appreciate self-care. If this sounds like your cup of tea, feel free to join me on this new journey of mine as I explore the blogging world! I appreciate feedback as this is all new to me. A dream of mine is to branch out past writing for myself and start touching on topics that can inspire and encourage others. This world has enough negativity in it already. I hope this blog can become a little corner of positivity that others can come to for connection, encouragement, and strength. I write from my lens of a working mom because that is my story, but my goal is not to diminish anyone else’s journey. I hope that this will not just be a space for working mom but that there will be something here for anyone, even if it is to widen your perspective.
If you have made it this far in my first post, thank you for bearing with me and I hope you will return!
“I think every working mom probably feels the same thing: You go through big chunks of time where you’re just thinking, ‘This is impossible — oh, this is impossible.’ And then you just keep going and keep going, and you sort of do the impossible.”
